MARINE CORPS EMBASSY SECURITY GROUP

Marine Security Guards (MSG) make up less than 2% of the United States Marine Corps, yet their impact extends worldwide. Unlike other divisions, Marine Corps Embassy Security Group trains their Marines to think defensively before reacting offensively. Beyond their duty to the Corps, they are responsible for supporting the Department of State in the protection of personnel, classified material, and U.S. property in foreign territories. Through the Marine Corps’ training and presence in diplomatic settings, Marine Security Guards are ready to take on any high-pressure situation, especially when stakes are highest.

WHAT MAKES A MARINE

There's not one trait that makes a great Marine, there are many. Traits like determination, resilience, and ambition have all played an essential part in the pursuit of our Nation’s ideals and the battles won over the last 248 years. While all qualities are important, confidence is all-encompassing with self-assuredness, trust, and teamwork. These are the differences between a good Marine and a great Marine, something we can all aspire to be.

A CULTURE OF CONTINUOUS LEARNING

In an ever-changing world, it is imperative that we as a Nation progress. It’s this mindset that has informed the Marine Corps’ philosophy of continuous learning and improvement. Whether it’s training or education—our focus on learning, developing, and honing knowledge, skills, and attitude has allowed us to stay ahead of our evolving enemies.

TO BECOME A MARINE SECURITY GUARD

Not every Marine has the privilege of calling themselves a Marine Security Guard. From mental agility to physical toughness, Marine Security Guards are equipped to handle any high-pressure situation worldwide. The chance to represent our Nation abroad is a call only some Marines get to answer.
