JASMIN MOGHBELI: ASTRONAUT, USMC AVIATOR

Lt. Col. Jasmin Moghbeli is a NASA Astronaut training for an International Space Station mission at Johnson Space Center in Houston, Texas.
Before Lt. Col. Jasmin Moghbeli was part of the NASA Astronaut Corps, she served her country as a Marine Aviator. Moghbeli honed her determination and will to win from the cockpit of an AH-1W Super Cobra Attack Helicopter. She flew more than 150 combat missions before becoming a test pilot.
Moghbeli may have traded her Marine Corps flight suit for a NASA space suit, but she’s still driven by a Marine’s expeditionary spirit.
“Every time in history when humans have explored it's led to very important advances,” she said. “That same spirit that Marines have carries over into the exploration we do at NASA.”
Moghbeli was motivated to serve in the Marine Corps because of the sacrifices her family made when they immigrated to the United States from Iran. She was accepted to the 2017 Astronaut Candidate Class and is training for a SpaceX Crew 7 mission to the International Space Station (ISS).
